Choosing a Teacher
Once you have decided to have guitar lessons, it is very important to choose the guitar teacher who will be right for you or your child. There are so many people now offering guitar lessons and setting themselves up as guitar teachers, that it can be very difficult to chose the right guitar teacher who is best for you.
So, here are some pointers which may help you to select a guitar teacher on the Wirral who will deliver the standard of guitar lessons that you should expect to receive: –
A good guitar teacher should: –
1.) Be an experienced, accomplished musician, able to pass his or her skills and knowledge onto the student during the guitar lessons. If you want to take exams, make sure they have put current pupils forward for them and can teach to the level you want to reach.
2.) Ideally be registered or recognised by an accredited body (such as LCM, ABRSM). If they are teaching your child be sure to ask to see their DBS certificate (formerly CRB).
3.) Have empathy, understanding, patience and commitment to the student, to ensure that the student feels relaxed and confident during the guitar lessons.
4.) Assess the student’s needs but also temper this with the basic requirements and tailor the guitar lessons accordingly.
5.) Set specific practice tasks during the guitar lessons to ensure that the student has realistic goals and a clear understanding of what needs to be practiced between guitar lessons.
6.) Care and genuinely want you to become an accomplished guitar player and musician and to enjoy and benefit from the guitar lessons
